• Top Villages - Oudega
Oudega was the home base for robber baron Ige Galama in the Late Middle Ages. Galama was anything but loved. The inhabitants of the region decided to behead him, and figured a canon would do the trick. So a regiment of soldiers lent a cannon in Sloten and attempted to bring it to Oudega. But the extremely heavy artillery sunk into the swampy peaty soil.
